By calling the disciples ‘My Children’ Jesus is translating
the love he experiences from his father in heaven. By giving the new commandment of LOVE to the
disciples he entreats them to love one
another as he loved them and thereby
glorifying GOD , the Father. The
Identity of a disciple of Christ is Love.
