4. V SUN of Kaitha

Lk.16: 19-31: The parable of the rich man and Lazarus highlights the divide between the rich and the poor. The wall the rich man willingly made becomes so after his death. By naming ‘Lazarus’ Jesus indicates the reversing of the situations in the afterlife. The modern day ‘Lazarus’ are a legion and are at our doorsteps, in every walk of life, in society and in the world as third and fourth words. While the rich are treated, accepted and served as persons the poor are treated inhumanly. The church cannot close the eyes to these situations. What our pope Francis faces this situation by example and by words is an indication to this direction.
