The basic of
the three ‘you’ petitions is “your kingdom come” in which we pray for God’s
revelation of love be realized, God’s name be glorified and God’s will (which
is our peace) be done. The three ‘you’ petitions are followed by three ‘we’
petitions in which we pray for our ‘own needs’ – for bread (bread for today ie.
Food that sustain our life, bread for tomorrow ie. Life after death and
spiritual bread ie. The eucharist), forgiveness and for protection from evil.
