28. VII FRI of Epiphany

Mt. 25: 31-40: Jesus instructs his people to give simple help to the people who they meet every day. Those who thus help people, whom they meet, did not think that they were helping Christ and thus piling up eternal merit; they helped them because they could not stop themselves. This should be the nature of a Christian advocated by Jesus.

27. VII THU of Epiphany

Lk. 6: 37-42: Neither the teacher can teach the things he doesn’t know nor the scholar can thing that he can go beyond the teacher in knowledge. So we have no right to criticize unless we ourselves are free of faults, because there is so much had in the best of us and so much good in the worst of us that it will becomes any of us to find fault with the rest of us.

26. VII WED of Epiphany

Jn. 4: 27-38: The episode we read from the Gospel today gives us the message that to do the will of God is the only way to happiness, peace and power. This is the motivating force of the Samaritan woman to preach Jesus to the villagers. We see here that when an opportunity is being given, it is being used with a challenge. This is the way of every missionary.

25. VII TUE of Epiphany

Mt. 24: 37-44: The hour of Jesus’ second coming is known to God alone. We are not to speculate it. The end of the world comes with a shattering suddenness on those who are immersed in their material things. One must be alert and watchful with a heart of preparedness.

24. VII MON of Epiphany

Mt. 9: 18-26: The ruler of the synagogue and the woman with hemorrhage came to Jesus with insufficient faith. The former came out of desperation and the latter with a superstition. Both were granted the favours they asked for or desired in their hearts. Jesus makes the event holy and memorable and inadequacy of our faith is made wholly.

23. VII SUN of Epiphany

Mt. 8: 5-13: We need to have an openness to receive the word of God, which comes to us in many ways. It assures, heals, inspires, comforts and reveals – it enhances every aspect of our life. The centurion showed that openness to the word of God that it touched his life and healed his servant.
