Mk. 8: 31-38: Peter’s reaction to Jesus’ suffering and death seems
to be the satanic opposition to God’s will. Peter represents the natural
reaction of all people to suffering and failure. Jesus’ instruction stresses
the role of service. Jesus goes on telling the disciples that the one who
follows him also likewise suffer so that God can raise him up.
